The Fair Share

One strawberry, five friends!

Ages 2–82:25 minEnglishSubtitles: English · Malay

The story

Five axolotl friends find the biggest strawberry in Axolandia, and they want to share it fairly! But cutting it in half doesn't work for five friends, and their first count forgets Bobo. Can Milo, Lulu, Tiko, Kiki and Bobo find a way so everyone gets the same?

What your child learns

Try it together (with a grown-up)

At your next snack, ask your child to count everyone at the table, then share the snack so everyone gets the same amount. Ask: "If one more friend came, would each piece be bigger or smaller?" Grown-ups do any cutting.

Fun fact

The tiny dots on a strawberry are called achenes, and each one has a seed inside. A medium strawberry has about 200 of them!

Talk about it after watching

  1. Why didn't cutting the strawberry in half work?
  2. Who did the friends forget to count at first?
  3. If one more friend came along, would each piece be bigger or smaller?
